The second is more what I was expecting in a Gewurztraminer. This was a Finger Lakes Gewurztraminer from White Springs Farm Estate Winery in Geneva, NY. Next dinner out I will bring the Gewurztraminer from White Springs. Please, no comments on that issue. | | | WHY WINE BLOG JULY 28, 2010 Boho Vineyards Old Vine Zinfandel 2008 3L have already tasted two of the Octavin Home Wine Bar artisan white wines and did review the Sauvignon Blanc from that collection and was looking forward to trying the Zin, but not necessarily writing a review. I've been holding out on the wine reviews until everything gets back to normal after my surgery. Best of all is the price. | WHY WINE BLOG AUGUST 13, 2010 Fontana Candida Frascati Superiore 2008 would have pulled out a nice Gewurztraminer if I had one, but settled for a Fontana Candida Frascati Superiore DOC 2008. Its characteristic taste is fresh and distinctive, with just a hint of almond. Getting time to clean out the old wine fridge. Here the grapes for Frascati are grown. | | | | | | | | |

This past week-end, my pal Mark and I were able to taste two Rieslings from the Brotherhood Winery located in Washingtonville (Hudson Valley) NY on the Shawangunk Wine Trail. The two wines we tasted were the 2008 Riesling and the 2008 'dry' Riesling. Doing so seemed almost impossible. Enough history. MORE >> -

Now I have a few and tonight I chose a 2008 Reserve Reisling from Fox Run Vineyards. Thankfu lly for me, a no sugar guy, the 2008 vintage is a dry Riesling, 1.0% You feel and taste all of these aromas on the palate and the finish is dry and very long. Wild aromas of topical fruits, raspberry, peach and lemon on the nose. MORE >> -

This is the third of the Carmenere wines I tasted this month. Tonight I uncorked another Carmenere from Concha y Toro , the Casillero del Diablo 2008 Reserve. As I stated in my previous two articles, Carmenere is one of the wines I've pushed aside in the past, but have placed on a list to re-examine in 2010. It'll be fun!!! MORE >> -

With May and New York Riesling month coming to close soon, it is safe to say that I tasted more Riesling this month than any one year in my life. This turned out to be a little difficult for me to compare a dry I tasted this week to a semi-dry that I tasted six to eight months ago. Both were opened with a BBQ chicken dinner. MORE >>
