Just like you, I have my limits on what I'll spend on a bottle of wine. When I'm buying a case of wine for everyday drinking purposes, the average cost per bottle is about $15. Why $50? Good buy. SLAKED | FRIDAY, MAY 30, 2008 2006 A. Clape "Le Vin des Amis" * In addution to the Cornas, it seems that Clape is making good to excellent wines at a number of different price points. (Rhone red table wine) Saturated purple color. Musk and pepper on the nose. Tart raspberry and red currant on the approach. very enjoyable table wine and even, solo, served as an apertif. MORE >> -
SLAKED | WEDNESDAY, APRIL 9, 2008 A. Voge 1998 Cornas * I'm a big fan of Voge's Cornas but Im used to drinking these wines relatively young. This 1998, which I picked up at Heights Chateau along with a funked Rayas, was the oldest of his wines I've tried, so at first I was a little worried. But my first impression after popping the cork of this wine was full and nicely complex. Deep plum color. MORE >>
