The more I learn about wine, the more I realize that I don't know. Even within the wine regions I know, I don't really know anything. Who knew. Gallois. FRANCE. | BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE JULY 7, 2009 Burgundy Thoughts, Episode 42 I tasted all of the Pierre Morey 2007's out of barrels in December of 2008. WINE TASTING GUY | TUESDAY, MARCH 25, 2008 Skurnik Tasting - my favorites (finally) The Henri Jouan 2006 Chambolle Musigny had nice minerality, pepper, earthiness and even some gaminess - very nice and complex with a great mouthfeel leading to a great finish. I've mentioned this event twice and have promised to write a more comprehensive review. Going simply in order of table number, let's start with Peay Vineyards. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2008 5% of the Tip of the Terroir Iceberg This is the first Burgundy Trip 2008 post. always heard that Chambolle- Musigny makes the silkiest and most seductive wines, and maybe this is so with bottle age, yet I experienced them to be smoky and almost rigidly structured in their youth. You can expect a steady stream of these for the next few weeks. Quite the opposite. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | TUESDAY, JANUARY 8, 2008 Five Nights of Oregon Pinot Noir - Part I Or is it more like Clos Vougeot, the village that gives its name to the enormous Grand Cru vineyard near Chambolle- Musigny in Burgundy, in that the wines of each vintage emerge with huge differences in quality depending on the producer working with the grapes? I've been a bit neglectful of my Oregon wines lately. Okay, so far so good. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2008 2005 Bourgogne - a Few Favorites These grapes are from 50 year old vines in Bon B â tons, the plot in Chambolle- Musigny that gives forth a couple of solid Bourgognes (Barthod, Rion). 2005 in Burgundy is one of those vintages in which all wines can be great. You hear over and over again that very little sorting was necessary, the fruit was almost uniformly perfect. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | TUESDAY, APRIL 1, 2008 Wine Splurge Update Back in January I lamented my past wine splurge results. Many of you commented with excellent suggestions, some of which I wound up using for Splurge 2007. Yeah, just like the NY State legislature, my budget comes out later than it's supposed to. But the good news is that I had a little more to spend than the $400 that I originally planned on. MORE >>
