DECEMBER 20, 2007 [2007, Israel] The BIG Israeli Wine review - Wine Advocate
But for now, let's just say I have a strong affinity for Israel, and as such I have spent extensive time working at wineries in Israel. OK, it is time to let the cat out of the bag. Yes, I am The Wine Tasting Guy, but more importantly I am the Israeli Wine Tasting Guy. What does that mean? Well, if I ever get my BIO up some of it will be explained.

DECEMBER 30, 2007 [2007, Israel] Happy New Year!
Not much to say today, but I don't want too many days to go by between posts so just a quickie tonight. Let me start by apologizing for my last post (ie. rant). I apparently overreacted to a post elsewhere regarding wines which had seemingly "changed" between a critic's first and second tasting. I gather this is not the most common phenomena, but it is possibly a byproduct of young wine producers heeding a critics critique & intentionally altering their product.

NOVEMBER 28, 2007 [2007, Israel] Non-"Kosher" ingredients in Wine
This is a very detailed and technical discussion, the kosher aspect of which I touched upon in a friends blog a few weeks ago regarding wines from Israel. That post can be found at [link] The topic was also touched upon by a new cyber friend at [link]. The reason I am re-visiting this topic again here is that I received one of the many emails I get from Wine Spectator today, this one being their "Wine & Healthy Living" email.
WINE TASTING GUY [2007, Israel] Wining and even some dining
| THURSDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2007
I was to have drinks with a gentleman who was interested in being involved with the Israel
Wine project I am working on. Too "tired" from all the wine last night to blog. But I was out at a couple of important places and there is lots to write. So without further ado. Given that the project involves wine from a specific region, we decided to check out a wine bar in NYC that has wines (and food style) exclusively from a non-traditional wine region - South Africa. WINE TASTING GUY [2007, Israel] Kosher Wine - can it be any good? Ask the "experts".
| MONDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2007
Robert Parker, while not commenting on kosher vs. non-kosher himself, actually chimed in briefly and stated that "Mark and I tasted some very fine wines from Israel
last Friday.Castel being among the most impressive.Mark has a super article coming up". A few weeks ago I wrote a post for an old friend on his blog "vinoverve". The site itself is very informative and has some fabulous contributors. I recommend checking it out.) The post can be found here. link]. MORE >>
WINE TASTING GUY [2007, Israel] Wine critics - what good are they?
| THURSDAY, DECEMBER 27, 2007
The board is moderated by Daniel Rogov, Israel's
preeminent wine critic. This is a scary topic for a post. It is pretty much a catch-22. If I love critics I am a suck-up & a "score-whore". If I hate them then I am a non-conformist joining the ranks of those who say down with "The Man". And anywhere in between and I am an indecisive, politically correct, good for nothing. Real generally. Wine critics are GREAT. MORE >>
EAST VILLAGE WINE GEEK [2007, Israel] The Results Are In.Breifly
| MONDAY, JUNE 25, 2007
Stores across the country are starting to be a little more adventurous and will stock cool wines that are usually under twenty bucks from Spain and South America as well as places like Mexico and Israel
. Well I must say the dinner pretty much worked out. The chicken could have had a little more moisture and I ended up nixing the zucchini due to the I-can't-figure-out-how-to-incorporate-this factor but over all the recipes worked out really well. MORE >>
WINE TASTING GUY [2007, Israel] Carmel's quality wine revolution
| SUNDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2008
Among the many things I must do is to better acquaint myself with one of Israel's
oldest wineries - Carmel. Prior to visiting the winery today I tried their LOW LEVEL supermarket 2007
"Private Collection" Cab/Merlot blend. The 2007
Carmel Ridge White, a blend of sauvignon blanc (50%), Chardonnay (20%), semillion (15%) & french Colombard (15%) had a hint of effervescence to go along with its crisp acidity & pink grapefruit characteristics. MORE >>
