The Cigalus (mostly Chardonnay with some Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier) was light and refreshing, and the 100% Chardonnay Aigle Royal from Limoux was full bodied, rich, yet lifted. This is Chardonnay, technically from the Loire Department, but we're talking closer to Lyon and Burgundy than to Vouvray or Chinon. In a very ripe vintage like 2005, the character of the vintage can easily overshadow the expression of terroir. drank one of these bottles not too long ago and although the wine was very nice, it was nice as a good Chardonnay, not as Le Clos.
