    Romano Dal Forno Amarone Della Valpolicella DOC 2006
    bottle generally goes for about $400, but I sampled this at The Vias Portfolio tasting last week One of the top Amarone producers in the famed Veneto and inspired by Giuseppi Quintarelli, Romano drastically lowered it's vine yields resulting in rich, expressive and dense wine. Very nice acidity and silky tannins.

    A Revisit of the Marchesi de Frescobaldi Nipozzano Chianti Rufina Riserva 2006 DOCG
    The last time I tasted this vintage of the Nipozzano was over two years ago and it's really interesting to see how it has changed, or. stayed the same. Back then there were "fruity aromas of pomegranate and black currant, with exotic notes of leather, vanilla, and barnyard." This time on the nose is black fruit and violet, mint and hazelnut.

When you taste Port wine for the first two years, I can assure you it’s not a very pleasant sensation, because of the alcohol, because of the amount of tannins, because of the fruitiness that seem overwhelming.     Two More From Cinnabar.
    After a few beer nights, I finally was able to open, taste and drink two remaining red wines I have received from Cinnabar Winery; the 2008 Sextant Vineyards Syrah and the 2006 Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon. We threw in a baked potato and fresh green beans and opened the "gem" of the Cinnabars, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon.

    Chablis Night
    The 2002 Billaud-Simon Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume , price unknown, Imported by Wine Brokers Int'l and acquired from a private collection, was rather mute on the nose at dinner, but I loved the taste of the wine. The 2006 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos , about $80, this wine is a sample donated by Henriot Inc.
