[2006, Golan Heights] Golan Heights Winery comes to NYC
He is cheif winemaker for the Golan Heights winery in the Golan Heights. The 2006 is sold in a limkited edition of 6000 bottles and sells for $160 -- quality well worth it. Have you had Israeli wine before? A few years back, several producers came to the US and I was overwhelmed by how delicious all the wines were. I was happy to just make the tail end of Victor Schoenfeld's visit to NYC.

[2006, Golan Heights] Wine starts in the Vineyard - Golan Heights Winery
Made a trip back up to the Golan Heights today. Making wines exclusively grown in the Golan Heights region on its volcanic soils (a result of two volvano eruptions - the most recent a short million years ago), GHW (Golan Heights Winery) grows 22 varietals and produces close to 30 wines. Starting with the whites I was quite impressed by the quality of the entry level 2007 Golan Sion Creek White.

[2006, Golan Heights] Yarden Odem Chardonnay 2006 Organic Vineyard Israel
This Chardonnay is a tasty wine from the Golan Heights in Israel. It is the color of pale gold and has an aroma of flowers, with a hint of banana. Pear and citrus with a bit of oak permeate the palate and leave me with a buttery finish of vanilla ice cream and spiced apples. I don't read Hebrew but I believe this wine is Kosher

[2006, Golan Heights] Best bet (kosher) Israeli wines for Passover - at all price ranges.
The 2006 Canaan Red can be found here for $12 but is often priced at $13, $14 and higher. You will find both 2005 & 2006 vintages in stock. Both are great (as long as the '05's which have been out for well over a year were stored properly) but the 2006 were rated slightly higher by Israeli wine critic Daniel Rogov. here , while the 2006 is selling for just over $13 here. I did find the 2006 here for $18 here (no vintage listed) for $19 and here for $20.

[2006, Golan Heights] Israeli Wine - Wine Advocate " Modern Israel: A Survey (A Work in Progress)"
Well ladies and gentlemen, the results are in. I will be copying a list of wines & their scores from Israeli Wine Critic Daniel Rogov's "Wine & Food Forum". I am waiting for my physical copy of the issue to arrive before I comment specifically. The only thing I would like to share is my excitement for a 92 score given to a wine I worked on - The TZORA "Or" dessert wine.
