On the nose a thick and intense syrupy aroma of ripe cherries, with juicy flavors showing herbal influence, swathed in violet powder and a mild vegetal edge. | SLAKED APRIL 30, 2009 Bonny Doon Tasting at City Winery The 2006 Le Cigare Blanc showed "quince and a little bit of spear mint." From Monterey, this was aged in 25% new wood, and was my favorite wine of the night. It may be the best Italian varietal wine from California I have ever tried. Maybe it will turn out great, maybe not. There is, apparently, a lot to learn about Bonny Doon. | | | | | | | VIGNA UVA VINO JANUARY 5, 2009 Morgan Cotes du Crow Monterey California 2006 This red wine, done in the southern Rhone style but in a California terroir, is a blend of 55% Syrah and 45% Grenache. Lots of ripe strawberry aromas with hints of field herbs like violets and lilacs, and spicy flavors of white pepper woven between layers of blueberry and rhubarb pie. | WINE TASTING GUY MAY 25, 2008 Monterey Wine Country About an hour to an hour and a half South of San Francisco lay beautiful Monterey County. Famous for its coastline, golf courses & amazing aquarium, Monterey County is also home to a budding wine country, with 40,000 acres of vines planted. The event was well attended & represented. Happy Memorial Day Wine Tasting! | | |
