I picked this one up on our last tour, to replace the 2006 I recently finished. Each time we do a wine tour, I get to splurge on one or two wines and earlier this month, I chose this one because the recently finished 2006 was by far the best Finger Lakes red wine I have ever tasted. The biggest surprise was a Portuguese white, Tons de Duorum 2011 - frankly, I did not know what to expect as I do not have white wines from Portugal very often. We drank two versions of this great wine; one recent bottling from October of 2011, and one that was bottled in January of 2006 and aged in a cellar since then. When I think of terroir, I invariably think within the Burgundian model where each vineyard produces wines that are different from those of its neighboring vineyards. I'm willing to bet that most of us think of terroir in approximately those terms.
