And the good producers are quite interested in and adept at making wines that showcase terroir over grape character. About soil and place? | | | | | | | | | | BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE FEBRUARY 25, 2009 Who is Henri Milan? And this wine turned out to be the 2005 Domaine Henri Milan Baux de Provence Saint Remy de Provence red blend (about $25). And then I read that Henri Milan is part of the Nicolas Joly Return to Terroir group that held a tasting this week in New York. In October I went to the Domaine Select Wine Estates Grand Portfolio Tasting. | | | | | | | | | | | -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | THURSDAY, MAY 21, 2009 Friday Night Bubbles Perhaps because some of these wine hipsters claim that the expression of terroir in Champagne is possible only in non-dosé wines. There are several in the group of young and hip Champagne vignerons who are making great non-dosé wines, and for more on that you should consult ChampagneGuide.net. MORE >> -
DR. VINO | TUESDAY, MARCH 9, 2010 Paul Draper’s forty years and the making of Ridge Monte Bello It may sound absurd to think that a winemaker’s personality is as discernible in the glass as the terroir , but that combination of curiosity, humility, and respectful excellence comes through in the wines of Ridge Vineyards. Almost everyone in our group preferred that wine. The road to Monte Bello. But nothing is as small as 0.9%. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, APRIL 7, 2010 Brooklyn Blind Tasting Panel #4 - Inexpensive Provence Reds Wines that can offer the same level of quality as good Beaujolais or Loire red wines at those prices - delicious wines that express terroir and work perfectly with food. Such a great group for this tasting - Rosemary drinks loads of minerally white wine and has a tough time with big red wines like this. Aren't they? Some are, yes. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | TUESDAY, JUNE 30, 2009 By the Glass - Top Quality Muscadet Edition recently had the opportunity to drink several of these wines over dinnerwith a group of friends. Our bottle of 2007 Domaine de la Pépière Muscadet Clos des Briords was corked, sadly, as was our 2005 Luneau-Papin L D'Or. The palate was as youthful as the 2005 I had a few months ago. Perhaps even the seafood stereotype entirely. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 26, 2009 Brooklyn Blind Tasting Panel #1 - Cour-Cheverny think it will be interesting to gather bloggers and other people with whom I enjoy sharing wine, taste and discuss together with the goal of being able to say something meaningful about a group of wines. Not warm and easy ripening like 2005, not as bad as 2001, typical perhaps, classic. Is there room for another blind tasting panel? MORE >>
