Very pure and good intensity of fruit, and shows an orange zest earthiness that for me is very Gevrey-Chambertin. | | | WINE TASTING GUY MARCH 25, 2008 Skurnik Tasting - my favorites (finally) And finally the Peay 2005 "La Bruma" Estate Syrah, which I was told came from a very cool Syrah site, was also not a fruit bomb like some of the other Syrah's I tried. based on prices it was actually the cheapest of their 3 Pinots, the 2005 Etude "Temblor" Pinot Noir. That Aux Combottes and Clos St Jacques make vastly different wines, even though they are both vineyards in Gevrey- Chambertin. In extremely ripe vintages (recently 2003 and 2005), the nuances of terroir can take a back seat to the aromas and flavors of ripe fruit. This is the first Burgundy Trip 2008 post. 2005 is supposed to be an incredible vintage, and from the little I have tasted so far, it's not hype - the wines are amazing. And if by some miracle I were to find a bottle of 2005 JF Mugnier Musigny, I bet it will cost $375 or so. Results are mixed so far - some good wines, some disappointing wines. So beautiful. MORE >> -

One thing I want to say right here and right now is that I think you can spend between $30-$60 per bottle and get a case of stupendous 2005 red Burgundy. That 2005 Simon Bize was really beautiful. wonder how the other 2005 Bize wines are.anyone taste them yet? How do I know this? And that one was from me when I re-read the post. MORE >>
