Mostly Carignan, with some Grenache and Syrah thrown in, the 2005 Domaine des 2 Anes Corbieres Fontanilles was smooth and supple, ripe and complex. Quite a lovely thing that they're doing, definitely worth poking around their site. Among the various goodies we sampled that evening was a confit of duck leg. They're all like that. MORE >>

2005 Eric Texier Vins de Pays O Pale , $16 - This is a sweet wine made entirely from Viognier grapes. 2005 Marechal Pommard La Chaniere , $50 - who would have thunk it? Dark purple colored and a little murky, this wine smelled like a flower shop, with smoky spices too. Definitely a $15 beauty. Impossible in this venue. MORE >>
