| WINE TASTING GUY MARCH 25, 2008 Skurnik Tasting - my favorites (finally) And finally the Peay 2005 "La Bruma" Estate Syrah, which I was told came from a very cool Syrah site, was also not a fruit bomb like some of the other Syrah's I tried. Definitely one I'll be on the lookout for! based on prices it was actually the cheapest of their 3 Pinots, the 2005 Etude "Temblor" Pinot Noir. Yes, in 2005, some producers made humble regional wines that will knock your socks off. Their 2005 Bourgogne will run you more than $25 anyway. These are piercing wines of great definition, and they can seem like turtles, just their head visible underneath all of that shell. The 2006's from Chidaine are quite good, although if you're used to the 2005's they will seem light. The 2006's are probably typical and the 2005's are probably extra rich and intense. MORE >>
