SLAKED | THURSDAY, MARCH 26, 2009 2004 Hanzell Chardonnay I've been wondering recently what it would mean if Hanzell, which planted the first pinot noir vines in California in 1953, received 95+ points from the major trade press regularly. Hanzell previously reviewed: 2005 Chardonnay 1995 Pinot Noir. I didn't expect to like this 2004 Chardonnay from Hanzell Vineyards as much as I did. MORE >> -
WINE TASTING GUY | WEDNESDAY, APRIL 30, 2008 Polaner tasting standouts wine I really loved and found quite unique was the 2005 Domaine de Roally Vire'-Clesse' from the Macconnais, France. tasted 4 of them; a 2005 from grapes with botrytis (a desirable mold that when properly managed leads to long lived sweet wines), and 3 Vouvray. The 2005 is selling for $12.50 But as the wine industry has matured (vineyards & wine making techniques have improved) and customers have become more sophisticated, the wines of Gamla have improved by leaps and bounds.
