The Burgundies were not so impressive, on the whole. The only one that seemed promising to me was a 1999 Geantet-Pansiot Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru , but even that did not have the same captivating factor as some of the other reds. | | | WINE TASTING GUY MARCH 25, 2008 Skurnik Tasting - my favorites (finally) And finally the Peay 2005 "La Bruma" Estate Syrah, which I was told came from a very cool Syrah site, was also not a fruit bomb like some of the other Syrah's I tried. based on prices it was actually the cheapest of their 3 Pinots, the 2005 Etude "Temblor" Pinot Noir. then moved on the the Burgundies of Domaine Henri Jouan. | | BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE JANUARY 25, 2007 Following up on a Buying Strategy Idea have been sampling some older experiments using this strategy, a few 2001 Pinots from Oregon and Burgundy, 2002 was considered the star vintage in both regions. felt as if I were dreaming as we passed through the towns of Moray St Denis, Gevrey Chembertin, Chambolle Musigny, Vosne Romanee, and Nuits St Georges.sometimes driving alongside famous vinyards like Clos Vougeot and Clos Marechale. Two holiday Burgundies worth mentioning. The 2000 Groffier Chambolle- Musigny 1er Cru Les Sentiers was a disappointing mess of a wine. Not sure that it was so much better than, say the 2005 Macon-Charnay Vieille Vignes by Manciat, and that is literally one quarter of the price, but whatever. She was wonderful, actually. MORE >> -

2005 in Burgundy is one of those vintages in which all wines can be great. Yes, in 2005, some producers made humble regional wines that will knock your socks off. Their 2005 Bourgogne will run you more than $25 anyway. There are plenty of solid producers who made fantastic regional wine in 2005. And forth. MORE >> -

BrooklynLady and I hosted, and we settled on the theme of Burgundy, in honor of our recent trip. BrooklynLady and I prepared a 5 course dinner and everyone was asked to bring a mature red Burgundy. We opened (an hour before eating) two white Burgundies to taste with the quiche. This bubbly was surprising in its weight and power. MORE >> -

stuck with Burgundy and grower Champagne. Back in January I lamented my past wine splurge results. Many of you commented with excellent suggestions, some of which I wound up using for Splurge 2007.
