The palate is a disaster - way too evolved, no definition, not flawed, but unpleasant. The results have not been terribly impressive so far. Kind of like reading an old journal entry. But the Cote de Beaune is the place to go. That 2005 Simon Bize was really beautiful. wonder how the other 2005 Bize wines are.anyone taste them yet? 2005 in Burgundy is one of those vintages in which all wines can be great. Grapes were harvested without a lot of rot or other damage, even from plots that qualify only for the regional designation of Bourgogne, Côte de Beaune Villages, or Côte de Nuits Villages. Their 2005 Bourgogne will run you more than $25 anyway. MORE >> -

These are piercing wines of great definition, and they can seem like turtles, just their head visible underneath all of that shell. The 2006's from Chidaine are quite good, although if you're used to the 2005's they will seem light. The 2006's are probably typical and the 2005's are probably extra rich and intense. MORE >>
