My favorites of the day were still the appellation Carignan and Petite Sirah. And taste I did. | WINE TASTING GUY MAY 5, 2008 NorCal day 2: Sonoma Zinfandel is a very common varietal in Sonoma county and I tried 2 Zins at Sausal; the 2004 Family Zinfandel & the 2005 Private reserve Zin. | WINE TASTING GUY MAY 4, 2008 Day in Napa Following the Cab I had a Petit Sirah and finished with an old vine Zin PORT that I REALLY enjoyed. As to the wines I started with the 2006 Chardonnay that only sees 5% new oak & is put through no malolactic fermentation. The Zin was blended with about 7-8% Petit Sirah & a touch (about 1%) of Cab. Nice wines. Good stuff. | | | | | | | | | -
WINE TASTING GUY | WEDNESDAY, APRIL 30, 2008 Polaner tasting standouts began in a French table area and tried some Sancerres (made from Sauvignon Blanc), some white Burgundys (made from Chardonnay) and some white blends. He wants his wines to show a nice purity of fruit ( Chardonnay) and as such uses large 600 liter (mostly neutral) barrels. Made from Chardonnay, this wine had an exploding bouquet. MORE >> -

And their 2004 "Right Bank" Red, a blend of Cab Franc (53%), Merlot (30%), Petit Verdot (9%) & Cab Sauv (8%) was beautiful. enjoyed a nice Pinot Gris & Chardonnay of theirs. MORE >> -
