Also used in the wines/blends was Tempranillo, Carignan, Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah and Tinta del Pais (which I learned is really just another name for Tempranillo). We have chosen 2003 Pagos De Infante 100 % tempranillo from the Ribera de Duero located on the northern plateau along the Duero River. Tempranillo in my opinion and to some others out there is the pinot noir of Spain (Thank you Mr. Price). These characteristics were found in the Castello Di Meleto 2004 Chianti Classsico. The Special Occasion wine of the week is the 2004 Baron De Ley Finca Monasterio Rioja. This 2004 Rioja is made up of 80% tempranillo and 20% other grapes. VIGNA UVA VINO | WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5, 2008 Estate Bottled Montebuena Rioja 2005
This Spanish red wine is made from 100% Tempranillo grapes grown in the Rioja region. The last attempt in 2004 was a superior effort and the 2005 is less distinct, but with a 3 hour decanting it opened nicely. The nose is considerably milder but with hints of dusty fruits. 12 range MORE >>
