Monterey 2008 2004 - New York Wine

SLAKED APRIL 30, 2009 Bonny Doon Tasting at City Winery The 2008 Albarino from an estate vineyard in Soledad was tight and racy. From Monterey, this was aged in 25% new wood, and was my favorite wine of the night. The 2008** Vin Gris de Cigare * was aromatic but a little flabby, while the 2003 Cigare Volant / and 2004 Cigare Volant each showed a little reduction. Famous for its coastline, golf courses & amazing aquarium, Monterey County is also home to a budding wine country, with 40,000 acres of vines planted. The event was well attended & represented. WINE TASTING GUY MAY 20, 2008 Toast of the Town - NYC started by tasting some wines from Monterey County, CA. That said, many of the Monterey Pinots were in fact made in an elegant style. The one that really stood out to me was the Michaud 2004 Pinot Noir from the Chalone region. There was lots of good food, good wine & happy people. But it wasn't all perfect. These characteristics were found in the Castello Di Meleto 2004 Chianti Classsico. So the Alphabet City Wine Co. has been open for about a month now and all is well.
