Rather it was a 2004 (I think) Recanati Reserve Cabernet Franc. Cab Franc is one of the 5 Bordeaux varietals (grapes which can be used to make French Bordeaux wine - others being Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec & Petit Verdot), and it is usually used as a complementary grape as opposed to a primary grape in Bordeaux. The Laimburg Winery "Selyet" Pinot Nero Riserva 2004 was a standout at a table of reserve Pinots. There was a 2004 Rossa and a 2003 "Edizione" Rossa that i took to be a reserve as it had the same unique blend as the regular Rosso but was given some new oak while the Rossa I think had mostly (if not all) used oak. White 2004 Vergé Viré-Clessé Vieille Vignes - barnyard funk is overpowering on the nose. Red 2004 Peyra Côtes d'Auvergnes - somewhere between the south-eastern edge of the Loire and the north-western Rhône is Côtes d'Auvergnes. 2004 Derain Mercurey " la Plante Chassey" - smells like cured meat and sandalwood, kind of chalky too. Malbec is our first wine and it comes from Argentina. All of these elements combine to make great malbec. And that is just what this is, a great malbec. So with that being said our fourth wine is a 2004 Domaine Gayda Three Winds Vin de Pay d'Oc syrah from the Languedoc. So the Alphabet City Wine Co. Can you tell? Cheers MORE >>
