And more recently Israel earned its own chapter in the latest release (7th Edition) of " Parker's Wine Buyer's Guide" - a whole NINE pages - as many as New Zealand and more than South Africa! The Golan Heights winery's Yarden 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon came in at 91. | WINE TASTING GUY OCTOBER 26, 2008 Wine starts in the Vineyard - Golan Heights Winery The 2004 Yarden El Rom Cabernet, a single vineyard Cab made from 3 blocks at the El Rom vineyard is a wine that appears to be quite ageworthy, yet it remained somewhat closed and required significant aeration to show its big black fruit, interesting cedar & clove aromas and concentrated flavors. looks a little freaky huh. | | | | | | | WINE TASTING GUY OCTOBER 19, 2008 Carmel's quality wine revolution Among the many things I must do is to better acquaint myself with one of Israel's oldest wineries - Carmel. WINE TASTING GUY | WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26, 2008 Best bet (kosher) Israeli wines for Passover - at all price ranges. Rogov gives the 2004 the best score of the bunch, but any will do the trick at $14 or so. Well regarded throughout Israel, Recanati produces some fine wines. Definitely fruit forward, the PS/Zin can be found in the 2004 vintage and sells for between $16-$24 - yes, a wide range. The winery has since released the 2004 as well. MORE >> -
WINE TASTING GUY | WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2008 Israeli wine tasting - Castel & Binyamina The evening started with a 2004 Sauvignon Blanc from the Binyamina winery. Castel is among Israel's best boutique wineries (producing approximately 100,000 bottles) and has received very positive reviews for their wines of late. Sauv Blanc, when not oaked, is generally a wine that should be consumed young. Very nice. Very nice wines. MORE >>
