If tales like that sound familiar, you may recall Mondovino, the 2004 Jonathan Nossiter documentary about globalization in the wine industry. Then theres the hardware. | | WINE TASTING GUY OCTOBER 19, 2008 Carmel's quality wine revolution As for the reds, the single vineyard 2005 Kayoumi Cab showed black fruit, was round, approachable and very elegant, while the 2004 Kayoumi Shiraz was very upscale shiraz in style with a touch of black pepper, very fruit forward and a long finish. I have heard some criticism regarding the high alcohol levels of some of Israels wines. | WINE TASTING GUY MAY 5, 2008 NorCal day 2: Sonoma Zinfandel is a very common varietal in Sonoma county and I tried 2 Zins at Sausal; the 2004 Family Zinfandel & the 2005 Private reserve Zin. | | | | | | | | | -
WINE TASTING GUY | WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26, 2008 Best bet (kosher) Israeli wines for Passover - at all price ranges. Both are great (as long as the '05's which have been out for well over a year were stored properly) but the 2006 were rated slightly higher by Israeli wine critic Daniel Rogov. Rogov gives the 2004 the best score of the bunch, but any will do the trick at $14 or so. It can be found for both the 2003 & 2004 vintages. MORE >> -

But more on that, later. Why that's important to me. don't really know. But there it is.) MORE >> -
SLAKED | WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2008 Pinot Noir Season Bryce Vineyard Willamette Valley 2004 * From a four acre vineyard (planted by hand, FYI) in the Ribbon Ridge AVA, which is tended by family, this pinot noir is young and vibrant without being fruity. Sea Smoke "Botella" Santa Rita Hills 2004. The crisp acidity and earthy flavors somehow compliment this brisk NYC air. Cellar selection. MORE >> -
SLAKED | WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2008 2004 Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Merlot ** 2004 Napa Valley Merlot **+ Thoroughly enjoyable. This opened up very nicely after a few hours, but never really showed the complexity and big fruit of the 2004 Merlot. I've never really understood why many critics say California wine should not be cellared. was keen to jump on the bandwagon, but what the hell did I know? dared. MORE >> -
SLAKED | SUNDAY, MARCH 23, 2008 2005 Rhone Valley Reds. Extraordinary So Far. Short of sampling every wine from the 2005 vintage like a professional critic would, you have to make an educated guess as to whether this is really an exceptional vintage or not. Joseph "Offerus" from 2005 ($20, 1 star) was the best vintage of this wine I have tried going back to 2004, 2003, and 2001. So, what about the Rhone Valley? MORE >>
