And as far as I know, 1988 wasn't a particularly great vintage - just a normal working class year in the Loire Valley. The 2004 Vieille Vignes de Cramant was focused and lovely with floral notes, although quite closed. think the 2007 Baudry Les Granges is the best Les Granges since 2004. Yes, that's a lot of money, but like the Cuv é e Sainte-Anne Brut that is the subject of this post, it is one of the better wines of it's class, and also the among the least expensive Totally accessible and delicious wine. SLAKED | MONDAY, APRIL 21, 2008  Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello 2002 **
It's a combination of 2007's gorgeous and pure fruits and 2005's depth and class. 2004 **? The wine is very dark and to me a blue blood with a purple rim (but the picture makes it look a little purple, I admit). The aromatics and top notes are woodsy: mostly soft cedar, a touch of evergreen, some fresh oak. 2005 Very sophisticated. MORE >>
