DR. VINO | MONDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2009 Wine trends of the Naughties – reflections through the wine glass In volume terms, this is largely thanks to Yellow Tail, created only in 2002 but has since quickly hopped to the biggest wine brand in the history of the world!! Without them, and the many specialty wine shops that sell their wines, this wine lover’s glass would be half empty. Everyone’s looking back! -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | SUNDAY, AUGUST 16, 2009 By the Glass - Poulsard Edition Only problem - you won't find Poulsard at the local Wine Superstore, you may not even find it at your favorite little shop. Several years ago I drank the 2002 and didn't get it at all. 2005 Jacques Puffeney Poulsard Arbois "M" , $26, Neal Rosenthal Selections. I've recently emerged from a bit of a "red wine stand-still." -
DR. VINO | TUESDAY, MARCH 31, 2009 How much does that bottle of wine cost to make? Where $13 becomes $500 Simon Staples of Berry Bros & Rudd, a patrician wine shop in London, has an estimate in today’s NYT on the actual cost to make a bottle of Lafite, which sells for about $500 retail ( find this wine ). But despite merely average years subsequently, the price only fell back to £3,500 in 2006 and £2,800 in 2007. -
DR. VINO | SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2008 The white muscat of the red stone, barberesco, Bull’s blood And ever since I banned people from getting wines at the closest store to our venue, a store that seems to specialize in unearthing wines that have been stored next to the boiler for several winters, the quality of the wines has risen tremendously and people really have a lot of run exploring the wine shops of the city. It is an assignment! -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18, 2008 By the Glass - Thierry Puzelat Edition Maybe it's because the shops you frequent don't carry Dressner's imports. Or maybe your shops focus on high scoring wines, and these wines don't really feature in the publications that dole out the points. 2002 Puzelat Touraine Pinot Noir La Tesni è res $18 I stumbled on this bottle, the last in the store, at Astor the other day.

BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | MONDAY, APRIL 14, 2008 Familiar Places, New Friends But then Peter Liem in his truly excellent blog Besotted Ramblings and Other Drivel wrote about Damien Laureau's Savennières in his February 9, 2008 post (to which I cannot seem to create a link), calling it the finest example of Savennières from 2005. 2005 was a very good year in Savennières, as it was in most of France. Rabbit? -

BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12, 2008 Jenny & Francois Portfolio Tasting Too dense and hot and clunky for me, like a bull in the china shop that is my mouth (wow - am I that much of a priss?). 2002 Mazel Cuv é e Planet VdP de L'Ardeche (Rhône) - light, floral, perfume in the mouth, well balanced and absolutely delicious. 2005 Clos Siguier Cahors - I never would have guessed. Maybe a bit of both. -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 26, 2007 By the Glass - Just After X-Mas Edition felt really good about it - it made me want to do more shopping at Moore Brothers. The 2002 Colin-Deleger Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Vergers was much better. Not sure that it was so much better than, say the 2005 Macon-Charnay Vieille Vignes by Manciat, and that is literally one quarter of the price, but whatever. cents. -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | MONDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2007 Silver Burgundy Roudup - WBW #39 Before getting into the specifics, here are a few things that jump out at me when looking at our notes as a whole: 9 out of the 14 reds tasted were from the 2005 vintage, a ripe and glorious year. Lyle Fass of Rockss and Fruit also participates for the first time, writing about a Tres Vieille Vignes 2005 Mâcon Bussieres by Eric Texier. -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | TUESDAY, MARCH 27, 2007 Notes From the Dressner Real Wine Attack Tasting 2005 Eric Texier Vins de Pays O Pale , $16 - This is a sweet wine made entirely from Viognier grapes. My 4's 2002 Domaine du Closel Savennieres les Coteaux Moelleux , $28 - this is a rare sweet wine from Savennieres, crafted only in certain vintages. 2005 Marechal Pommard La Chaniere , $50 - who would have thunk it? Just yummy. -
