As previously reported, the 2002 Girard Caberent Franc Napa Valley displays bright and luscious strawberry notes on opening. It is a different style zinfandel than the 2005, and may be the best Dusi Ranch I've had since the 2002, but it still lacks the complexity of the Dry Creek and other Sonoma County zinfandels , which I have been favoring lately. The wine is concentrated, ruby red, and has mild smoke and bacon notes underneath.

routinely disagree with their wine scores (they gave Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello 2005 only 85 points - WTF are they thinking?!) There are also loads of tasting notes and scores, but it's up to you to determine whether or not his 93 point score translates to your personal 93, whatever that may be. I've enjoyed Maréchal's wines since 2002, always finding a particular wine that I like enough to buy a few bottles. But that's part of the fun.

The 2005 is selling for $12.50 have found 2003 -2005 in stores ranging in price from about $ 13.50 Rogov gives the 2004 the best score of the bunch, but any will do the trick at $14 or so. kosherwine.com says their 2005 is sold out and I did not see the 2005 elsewhere.

decided that for this tasting I would score wines from 1-5 with 5 being my favorites, 1 indicating a wine that I just did not like. 2005 Eric Texier Vins de Pays O Pale , $16 - This is a sweet wine made entirely from Viognier grapes. 2005 Marechal Pommard La Chaniere , $50 - who would have thunk it? Impossible in this venue.
