Wines are generally priced accordingly - in other words - people like you and me might be able to afford wines that are out of range in 2002. When you see 2001 you might not think of this as mature wine, but '01 was a "classic" vintage in Oregon, a normal year in which some great wines were made, some bad ones, and everything in between. 2002 Sylvan Cathiard Vosne Romanee , $25 (secondary market). Oregon 2003 Sineann Pinot Noir Phelps Creek , $40. An Oregon Pinot from cult producer Peter Rosback, but not from the Willamette Valley. 2005 Belle Pente Willamette Valley Pinot Gris , $17. I've been pondering this question for about a week now, and here is what I think: 43% of my cellar is Pinot Noir - 14% Burgundy and 29% Oregon. Like the wonderful $14 2002 Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Noir. can safely say that I prefer Burgundy to Oregon in the $25 and under range, for what it's worth. Why not? what). MORE >>
