SLAKED | WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2008 2001 Tua Rita "Perlato del Bosco Rosso" ** From 100% sangiovese, the Perlato del Bosco Rosso 2001 ** is thick and dark and dry. I've been watching it evolve for the past four plus years. In its youth this was a little tight and acidic, and it closed down for a little while resulting in a wine rather more like cheap Chianti Classico. MORE >> -
SLAKED | WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2008 2001 Frescobaldi Chianti Ruffina "Nipozzano Riserva" * This little sangiovese from Frescobaldi is starting to show a very lovely nose of dried rose petals, dried herbs, and tough old leather. Garnet color, with still fresh acidity, this is a great table wine for $18. About this last point, however, I may be wrong. It could be I just drank too much. MORE >>
