A WINE STORY | MONDAY, APRIL 11, 2011 Visiting Chateau Nairac: The 2010 Vintage Owner/winemaker Nicolas Heeter-Tari first got the idea for Esquisse in the great vintage of 2002, when he saw the quality of the wine was so superior it would be a shame to negotiants as generic wine in bulk. This wine, 2001, was from a spectacular vintage and was a brilliant shade of pure gold. Adele. Now let me set the seen. -

BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2010 Wild Champagnes That I Have Loved 2002) Larmandier-Bernier Vieille Vignes de Crama nt Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs , $70, Louis/Dressner Selections. The precious few bottles I'm glad that I saved this for at least a few years (2005 is the current vintage), as it seems to be in a particularly sweet spot right now. loved this rosé. To me, a truly great Champagne. -
Chablis Night We then enjoyed two wines from the 2005 vintage with my fish soup. 2005 is thought to be a great vintage because, as in most of France, conditions were essentially perfect. I'm not sure yet where I stand on 2005, as I've had some wines that are more about ripeness and grape character than they are about terroir. But close. -

SLAKED | WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2009 Girard Winery There is no question that quality has been increasing in the past couple of years -- with the most recent wines garnering 93 points from all the major critics -- and indeed, the 1999 vintage produced a delicious Napa Valley Red, and 2001 produced an excellent Petit Sirah. History, like beauty, is in the mind of the beholder. Elegance. -

BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, APRIL 30, 2008 My First 2006 Red Burgundies. discovered this in 2001 when hail ravaged that vineyard - something I didn't bother to read about until after buying the wine. I've enjoyed Maréchal's wines since 2002, always finding a particular wine that I like enough to buy a few bottles. They're calling 2006 a "classic" vintage in Burgundy, which means that it was a normal year. -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | MONDAY, APRIL 21, 2008 A Few Mature Wines Here are a few recent experiences with mature wine: 2001 Adelsheim Pinot Noir Quarter Mile Lane Vineyard , $40. When you see 2001 you might not think of this as mature wine, but '01 was a "classic" vintage in Oregon, a normal year in which some great wines were made, some bad ones, and everything in between. Yes, yes I would. -

BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | THURSDAY, JANUARY 25, 2007 Following up on a Buying Strategy Idea have been sampling some older experiments using this strategy, a few 2001 Pinots from Oregon and Burgundy, 2002 was considered the star vintage in both regions. 2005 is supposed to be an incredible vintage, and from the little I have tasted so far, it's not hype - the wines are amazing. So beautiful. -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | TUESDAY, JANUARY 23, 2007 Revisiting Some 2001's For example, 2002 was considered to be a great year in Burgundy and in Oregon, and the wines tend to be priced accordingly. In both regions, 2001 was not as highly regarded, particularly difficult in Burgundy where hail and limited sunlight wrecked havoc in certain areas. The 2001 was delicious back then. Same thing in Burgundy. -
