    He took the estate in a new direction, eventually going entirely organic as of 2000. This wine is not blanketing the shelves, but it's pretty easy to find in and around New York. This is a wine worth buying many bottles of, if you have the space. Yes, it is a great white Burgundy, and yes, I got mine for $15 a bottle.

And I've seen it, the same disorgement as in the tasting, based on 2004, with the new label, for as little as $36. Delicious.

    Bouchard is an infant of a Champagne house, created in 2000 and located in the Côte des Bar, the southern part of Champagne where the climate resembles that of Burgundy, and where Pinot Noir is the most common grape. Bouchard makes two wines that I've seen in New York. I'm so glad we did - we both loved it.

    Here is what I like about them: The reds tend to be somewhat "old-world" in style - they offer complexity and balance that can be elusive among new world wines made with the big three Bordeaux grapes. will admit that I loved the 2000 vintage of this wine, so I might be a bit biased.     As is common in New York, a combination of artists and other intrepid souls in about 2000 began moving to Red Hook for the low rents. One of the largest public housing projects in the US sits in Red Hook. It has been for years one of the most isolated, poor, and blighted parts of the city. But the food was excellent.

    The 2000 Estate Selection Merlot is an excellent Bordeaux-styled wine, with plummy and earthy aromas, a light texture, and lots of dark fruit on the palate. So now I know that Long Island makes serious wine.what about the rest of New York? Vintage is a wine store that sells only New York wines, and also some fancy foods.
