BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2012 Tidbits This wine is all Bouzy, a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, but it reminded me of a wine I tasted a few years ago by Moutard that is made with the obscure grapes of Champagne, things like Arbanne and Petit Meslier. Oh no, my friends, I've been a very lucky Brooklynguy lately, in large part due to the generosity of friends. -

A WINE STORY | FRIDAY, MARCH 11, 2011 Wines of Canada – Seriously Cool Chardonnay Actually, the word 'cool' is clever as it describes two clear facts about this Chardonnay: it is cool climate (read Burgundian cool) and the idea of a Canadian Chardonnay is, well, cool. A WINE STORY | SATURDAY, AUGUST 7, 2010 Saintsbury Wines from Carneros The appellation was officially created in 1983, as its cool climate is excellent for creating Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with a Burgundian tone of delicacy and finesse. Quick! When you think 'Carneros' what varietal comes to mind? On the palate, the wine is dry, acid is med, tannin is med with a finish of black pepper, spice, berries. Davis. -

BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | FRIDAY, JULY 17, 2009 Wine of the Week - 2007 Thierry et Pascale Matrot Bourgogne You would know instantly that this is a Burgundy Chardonnay if it were served to you blind - it is that clean and true. SLAKED | FRIDAY, MAY 29, 2009 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2000 Mini-Retrospective I remember the 2000 vintage as a whirlwind of excitement. DR. VINO | THURSDAY, APRIL 9, 2009 Oxidative wines - vin jaune - Domaine Berthet-Bondet, Jura The Cotes de Jura Chardonnay 2006 is matured in neutral oak barrels and has a vein of minerality so rich it would out Chablis out of business if the world craved minerally chardonnay. But the piece de resistance was the 2000 “vin de voile (aka vin jaune ) from the micro-appellation of Chateau-Chalon. Really. -

EAST VILLAGE WINE GEEK | FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2008 CHARDONNAY: RESEARCHING THE HUMBLE BEGININGS OF ONE OF THE WORLDS MOST POPULAR GRAPES And when we think of where Chardonnay is today in the human consciousness it is easy to ignore or not even be able to contemplate its humble beginnings. SLAKED | MONDAY, JUNE 16, 2008 Seven Days Seven Wines Rita Hills Chardonnay "Seasmoke" 2005 * Awesome. 2000 A tremendous wine. The flood plains recede in Iowa, Al Gore endorses Obama, and I finally have a chance to note some of the wines we've been swirling around here. It's been a crazy week, sort of. Now it's time to focus back on something closer to home: summer whites (but not all). -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | FRIDAY, MAY 30, 2008 Friday Night Bubbles While the Côte des Bars is well known for Pinot Noir, Montgueux is famous for Chardonnay. WINE TASTING GUY | SUNDAY, MAY 4, 2008 Day in Napa She proceeded to open a 2000 Syrah that they recently re-released and it was great. As to the wines I started with the 2006 Chardonnay that only sees 5% new oak & is put through no malolactic fermentation. It was a nice Chardonnay and for the price ($28 suggested) a nice buy relative to some of the other $50+ Napa Chards. -
