Here are five current releases I would cellar for 15 years that will bring a whole lot of bang for much less buck: Domaine Baudry, La Croix Boisée, 2008. And, of course, for the prices Bordeaux futures are fetching, you could get plenty of Bordeaux with a decade or two of cellar age on them. And around $30 a bottle? Under $30. This is the one that I must buy for my own cellar. should pull the few bottles I have out of the cellar and drink them over the next year or two. The more I learn about wine, the more I realize that I don't know. Even within the wine regions I know, I don't really know anything. Incredibly delicious wine. | | | | | | | | | | | -
Whoa! 1999 Clos Rougeard Saumur Bréze , Louis/Dressner Imports, price unknown. This Pradeaux rose is only a year old, but already offers a glimpse of what time in the cellar will do. Been so busy lately with work that I just haven't had time to write here. But I want to share some recent "Whoa," wine and food that really knocked me out. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6, 2011 An Evening with the Jura Wines of Domaine Ganevat The 2008 was vibrant and pungently mineral with great freshness and a core of energy that bodes well for the cellar. I was lucky to attend a dinner recently at which Levi Dalton poured a large selection of Jean-François Ganevat's wines. Domaine Ganevat is in the Jura, in a town called Rotalier. And indeed it was. BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2009 Friday Night Bubbles - 2002 Diebolt-Vallois But I don't own any of the Diebolt-Vallois 1999's, which my good friend Peter Liem says is what we should be drinking now while we wait for the 02's and the '04's to develop. What will happen with additional cellaring that could make this wine better than it is right now? But what to open? did my best. tried, okay? MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | FRIDAY, MARCH 18, 2011 An Afternoon of Grand Cru Chablis also learned about several producers whose wines I really liked, and would consider buying for my cellar. François Servin brought along a special treat with him, a bottle of his 1999 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos. The Wine Doctor has a nice page that describes these vineyards, by the way. They are more typical of Chablis." were brothers. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | SUNDAY, AUGUST 14, 2011 Wine Pairings for Single Parents Obviously I couldn't dig into my cellar at that time, but I merely thought about drinking the 1999 Lafarge Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes , and honestly I felt a little better. This blog is primarily about learning, my own learning about wine and food, and how they play a part in my life. good wine pairing can help. Don't move!" MORE >>
