So there I was, about to leave San Francisco. | ALICE FEIRING MARCH 26, 2010 I'm a Sangio man: Matt Steiner of Stella Fino Damn, it was so great that Allemand's 1998 Chaillot couldn't live up to it's patchouli nose. I didn't taste too many of the local wines when I was out for the lecture. The tone was set when Kevin and I met Robert Ames for dinner @ Brasserie Four. As promised Ames, a gentleman and a scholar, showed up with a Larmandier-Bernier 1996 Cramant. | | | | | | | | | BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE AUGUST 1, 2010 New Vintages The 2000 has a darkly spicy, very focused character, and it is more attractive to me early on than the more tropical 1998 at this point in its life. | | | | | | | | | | | -
A WINE STORY | WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2010 Visit to Terrazas de los Andes In 1988, the company experimented with still wine and high-end varietals, leading to the creation of Terrazas del los Andes in 1998. BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | SATURDAY, MAY 8, 2010 Further Adventures in Blind Tasting Turned out to be the 1998 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf du Pape. The other night my pal Peter came over for dinner. He's one of those former Brooklynites who packed up his wife and kid and moved out of the city to somewhere in the Hudson Valley. He has a decent sense of what I like to drink. This guy cures and smokes his own bacon. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | SUNDAY, JUNE 20, 2010 Levi Dalton Roasts a Pig And then, just when I thought it was safe to hang up my glass and head home, Kirk rooted around underneath one of the tables and emerged with a bottle of 1998 Giacomo Conterno Barolo Cascina Francia. Well, the chef at Alto did, anyway. Levi just organized the whole thing. And lucky for me, he invited me. Photo courtesy of Levi D. MORE >>
