| BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE JULY 23, 2008 I Learned that I Know Nothing About Wine There was everything from Grand Cru Burgundy to Barolo to Sancerre ros é. 1991 Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard. The Burgundies were not so impressive, on the whole. Maybe mature Burgundy doesn't show as well when surrounded by bigger, more obvious wines. Same is true with wine, I would say. Who knew. | | | DR. very generous host at a holiday party opened this and also the 1985 and 1991 Gran Reserva Viña Tondonia. The 1991 was just too young, I thought. Awesome wine, and it's the same price as a newly released 1er cru red Burgundy from a good terroir. White Burgundy is tough to buy, I think. This one, however, was thrilling. MORE >> -

The Burgundy-shaped bottle hints at the style of the wine. At this point, bottles of 1988 and 1991 are comparatively blasé. She selected the Hotel Villa-Louise for our stay in Burgundy, and it was perfect, really. unconditionally and without hesitation recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Burgundy.
