DR. VINO | TUESDAY, MAY 5, 2009 A tale of two Pichons - peace in Pauillac The 2005 was fantastic and the 06 excellent. With lunch we had both the wines from 1990, which, unfortunately didn’t show well. Rivalries and conflicts simmer throughout the world. At least one was resolved peacefully last week in a historic vertical tasting of the wines of the two Pichons. Sign up for one if you can. MORE >> -

WINE TASTING GUY | FRIDAY, MAY 16, 2008 Riesling & Co. World Tour 2008 The tasting had 39 official tables, in addition to an Austrian table, a French table and my favorite, the " 1990's: a decade of German Riesling" table. That said aside from the 18 wines I tried from the 1990's Rieslings, i was only able to get around to tasting 66 other wines from 11 of the 39 tables. That is all for now. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2007 Getting Myself in Shape for Loire Reds was surprised at how much I liked this wine, as I was not a big fan of the 1990 version, which to me tasted like one big lead pencil. 2005 Filliatreau La Grande Vignolle Saumur-Champigny, $17 This is a huge estate in Saumur-Champigny, producing many different wines each year. And really cheap too. Such honest wine. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | TUESDAY, DECEMBER 26, 2006 Holiday Wine Dinner We had 2005 Domaine Roulot Bourgogne Aligote with the soup, and it was exactly as it should be - light, crisp, clean tasting, briny and citrusy acidity. With our dessert we opened a well aged Loire Valley sweet wine, a 1990 Pichot Vouvray Moelleux Domaine le Peu de la Moriette. BrooklynLady and I put together the rest of the wine. MORE >>
