The 2005 was fantastic and the 06 excellent. With lunch we had both the wines from 1990, which, unfortunately didn’t show well. Rivalries and conflicts simmer throughout the world. In the late 1990's inspired wine making came to Jasnières and Coteaux du Loir in the form of Eric and Christine Nicolas who own and operate Domaine de Bellivière. They have been fully organic since 2005 and as of 2008 farm their entire estate biodynamically. preferred 2004 of this wine, and prefer the Coteaux du Loir wines in 2005. MORE >>

The tasting had 39 official tables, in addition to an Austrian table, a French table and my favorite, the "1990's: a decade of German Riesling" table. was surprised at how much I liked this wine, as I was not a big fan of the 1990 version, which to me tasted like one big lead pencil. 2005 Filliatreau La Grande Vignolle Saumur-Champigny, $17 This is a huge estate in Saumur-Champigny, producing many different wines each year. We had 2005 Domaine Roulot Bourgogne Aligote with the soup, and it was exactly as it should be - light, crisp, clean tasting, briny and citrusy acidity.
