VINO OCTOBER 6, 2009 Natural wines, premox, chenin blanc, 07 Port and Rhone – John Gilman Premature oxidation of dry, age-worthy white wines–be they from Burgundy, Bordeaux or California–is a tremendous problem today, and at this point in time it does not look to me as if any meaningful progress has been made since the scourge first became readily apparent when the 1996 white Burgundies began to tank. think not. | | | | | | | | SLAKED MAY 24, 2009 1988 Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello This wine put the 1989 to shame. Tags: 2004 Central California 2006 1988 3 stars Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello Napa Valley 4 stars Oppulently opaque, but this is most likely mature. Left a hefty amount of black residue in the bottle. I've been a bit neglectful of my Oregon wines lately. Okay, so far so good. | | | | | | | | | -

So they started setting their sights on exporting and the newly elected President Menem aided this venture in 1989. The word Malbec is being heard more and more these days. At the shop the question is often,"Do you guys have any Malbec?" MORE >> -
SLAKED | WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2008 2004 Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello ** have tasted Monte Bello cabernets from 1976, 1985, 1986, 1989, 1993, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2004, and I am constantly amazed by the wine's ability to age gracefully. According to the professional wine critics, 2004 was a very good vintage for California cabernets, merlots, and blends. These wines require patience. Margaux.) MORE >>
