BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | THURSDAY, AUGUST 12, 2010 Birth Year Wines His birth year is 1973, not a great vintage in most places. The daughter was there in the Lafouge cellars, inside her mommy's belly, when her mommy tasted this very wine (and spat, thank you very much). I've been thinking a little bit about birth year wines lately. What do you do, though, if your birth year was a bad vintage? MORE >> -

DR. VINO | THURSDAY, JUNE 4, 2009 Australian Riesling - Can it age? - Grosset, Steingarten and Leo Buring The youngest Riesling I’ve tasted was a tank sample of the 2009 Jacob’s Creek Steingarten Riesling. Also of note was the 1973 Leo Buring DWC15 Riesling Clare Valley. But tasting that magical transformation from lime-fresh minerality of youth to the gently honeyed, toasty quality of mature bottles can be worth the wait. MORE >>
