| | | WHY WINE BLOG JUNE 28, 2009 A Day in the Finger Lakes I am just sitting back enjoying one of the many New York Finger Lakes wines I brought home from last weeks tour. The first was a must do. | ALICE FEIRING JULY 2, 2009 Natural Wines: Aint for Everyone DBGB, the new (regrettably designed--post-industrial, cold, though with bar stools that push intimacy as they sit two) Daniel Boulud 'gastropub' around the corner from me, has a wine list selected and tuned by Colin Alveras. Now, for some reason, he's decided French and natural is the way to go. was finishing up my own 2007 Luneau Papin ($7!) | | | | | | | | | -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | TUESDAY, JUNE 30, 2009 By the Glass - Top Quality Muscadet Edition I tend to think of Muscadet as a winter white wine, a wine to drink on a cold January night with a plate of raw oysters. bet I'm not alone in this - Muscadet and oysters are a classic and wonderful pairing. Perhaps even the seafood stereotype entirely. It's not just any Muscadet that I'm talking about, though. Recently re-released by Dressner. MORE >> -
DR. VINO | THURSDAY, JULY 2, 2009 Gallup: “On Mars, They Drink Beer; on Venus, Wine” If an alien landed in a room full American wine drinkers, it would meet mostly college educated, AARP eligible women, probably not from the midwest. There would be relatively few men aged 18 (!) to 49. So says the polling group, Gallup. Almost. For beer-wine-spirits preferences, men are 58-19-18 while women are 21-50-24. million from $931.8 MORE >> -

I found the article “Kosher brand tops the chart in the San Fransisco Chronicle while I was out West the other week. Just like a wine tasting, the panel tasted 5 marshmallows BLIND (cool huh?) and scored each, [.]. MORE >> -
SLAKED | WEDNESDAY, JULY 1, 2009 2005 Bodega Sottano JUDAS * On my way to pick up some Mosel Saar Ruwer wines the other night I happened upon this tasting of Argentinian wines, featuring not unsurprisingly four malbecs, one cabernet sauvignon, and one blend. I'm no malbec expert, but the Argentinian malbecs I have tried have been generally very good, and good values. MORE >> -
ALICE FEIRING | WEDNESDAY, JULY 1, 2009 Morgon de Provence Who knew? So last night I was having a glass of Krug at Freeman's, you know, that pretty sexy restaurant down an alley on the Lower East Side? They are selling Krug BTG at $30, and my friend I was meeting said, what the hell. We ordered two glasses. The news is that the champagne is greatly diminished. Totally unspectacular. Gone was the richness. MORE >>
